1973-74 Doug Gibson Boston Bruins Game Worn Jersey

1973-74 Doug Gibson Boston Bruins Game Worn Jersey

Displayed is a 1973-74 Doug Gibson Boston Bruins game worn jersey. Gibson was a center who had an outstanding season with the Boston Bruins' top farm team in 1973-74, the Boston Braves of the American Hockey league. He scored 31 goals and had 51 assists for 82 points. Gibson was briefly called up to the Bruins that season and he played in two regular season games and a playoff game without registering a point. In the 1973-74 season, the Bruins reached the Stanley Cup Finals with such great stars as Hall of Famers Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito. In the following season, 1974-75, Gibson appeared in 50 games for the Bruins, scoring 7 goals and adding 18 assists. He played one more season in the NHL, with the Washington Capitals, and he finished his NHL career with nine goals and 19 assists. The white jersey is all original. It has NHL 50th Anniversary patches on both shoulders. There is a Wilson manufacturer's tag in the collar with a "74" handwritten on it for the year. An iconic, Bruins' symbol, the hub-and-spokes design around a large letter "B" that the consensus feels represents the 1800s poet Oliver Wendell Holmes stating that Boston is at the hub of the world. "27" is on both sleeves and the back, each time in black numerals with gold-colored trim. The jersey shows great use. This includes pilling inside, some light stick marks, and light staining - some of which appears to be blood. The great use makes this jersey a fine Boston Bruins keepsake.
