1973 Joe Frazier vs. George Foreman Ticket Stubs (2)
Pair of rare full bleacher tickets for the showdown between undefeated heavyweights as Champion Joe Frazier squared off with George Foreman on January 22, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica. Blue and orange tickets are 6.5x2.75" with two vertical folds, have perforations at the right edge of each of the type utilized by paper for a dot matrix printer, and there are areas of slight discoloration and staining to the right ends, though the images and print remain very clear. Frazier had enjoyed a long title run and stood 29-0 entering the bout, though Foreman - a relative newcomer despite reeling off a 37-0 record - had earned a reputation as a fierce puncher, leaving many to wonder how Frazier would fare. The question was answered quickly as Foreman pummeled Smokin' Joe with a stunning six knockdowns before the fight was stopped in just the second round. Foreman appeared unbeatable until he was "Rope-a-Doped" by Muhammad Ali just under two years later, with his own power being used against him in his first career loss.
