1973 Secretariat Triple Crown Program Display

1973 Secretariat Triple Crown Program Display

This trio of pristine Secretariat 1973 Triple Crown programs documents the fastest and perhaps the greatest performances in the storied history of these American classic races. Secretariat's record-breaking victories in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes are offered here in one impressive display. Original track programs from Secretariat's racing career have always been considered highly collectible. Yet finding them in perfect mint condition, with no writing, tears, creases or folds is becoming increasingly difficult. This very collectible set represents the three signature races in Secretariat's remarkable career, and the record-breaking victories that resulted.Perhaps your favorite Secretariat moment is the May 5 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs when Secretariat ran each successive quarter mile faster than the previous to become the first Derby winner to crack the 2-minute mark for the 1 1/4 mile race, winning in 1:59 25. Maybe it is the Preakness when he unleashed his amazing early move on the first turn, leaving a shell-shocked procession in his wake to win in 1:53 for the 1 3/16 distance. Yet it would not be surprising if it was the Belmont Stakes where Secretariat broke out of the gate and into racing legend winning the 1 1/2 mile “Test of the Champion” by a mind-boggling 31 lengths in the world record time of 2:24. No matter which performance you favor, nearly 50 years later, each stakes record still stands, and these artifacts evoke the history made during this trifecta of landmark races. The programs are professionally displayed under acrylic and supported by corner holders to prevent any wear to the immaculate covers. Accompanying the programs on the hardwood plaque, measuring14.5" x 23" in total, is the added bonus of a photo of Secretariat in the Derby home stretch that is hand-signed by his Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte. A wonderful piece to add to an existing collection or anchor a new one.
