Jean-Pierre Coopman, known as "The Lion of Flanders," was simply overmatched in his 1976 match with Muhammad Ali in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at Roberto Clemente Coliseum. Here are thirty-four brilliant 35mm full color negatives/transparencies, which show amazing ring shots of Ali's dominance, in NM-MT condition. Coopman has always felt it a point of pride that he emerged relatively unhurt.
The original negatives and images in this collection are by the personal photographer of Ali's manager Herbert Muhammad. Unpublished, they have not seen the light of day for five decades. Recently discovered, they come with the photographer’s rights. All of the negs/transparencies are unique, “Type I” images that can be used to make prints and products of the finest quality and huge scale.
