1978 Darryl Sittler NHL Showdown Skills Competition Game Worn Jersey Sittler LOA

1978 Darryl Sittler NHL Showdown Skills Competition Game Worn Jersey Sittler LOA

An unusual and controversy-connected item from a star of the ice, this 1978 NHL Showdown Skills Competition game worn jersey was donned by Toronto Maple Leafs standout Darryl Sittler. The blue sweater with yellow and white trim was created for a Hockey Night in Canada skills competition and has the "Showdown Confrontation" crest on the chest. Produced by Ravens Knit, it bears "SITTLER" on a nameplate on back. Sittler had contracted to participate in the "Showdown" series before being banned by Leafs GM Punch Imlach. Though Sittler participated anyway, it widened a growing rift between himself and Imlach during one of the most tumultuous periods in the Maple Leafs‚ storied history. Comes with LOA from Darryl Sittler himself.
