1978 Mark Malone Game Worn Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey (Steelers COA)
<p>Addendum: This was originally a 1978 Steelers blank jersey that was numbered and lettered up for Malone when he joined the team for the 1980 season. "Carry-over" jerseys is a common practice for many teams, especially when a non-star or marginal players are concerned. Number "16" was not worn by a player in 1978-79. </p><p>Malone was an NFL quarterback for the entire decade of the 1980’s, serving as a starter for five of those seasons. He was also the QB on the Steelers team that handed the eventual 1984 Super Bowl champions its only loss of the season.This road white nylon durene specimen was used by Malone during his first few pro seasons when he was serving in a backup capacity. It displays sewn on black and gold tackle twill identifiers and gold and black sleeve stripes. The tagging in the tail includes a Sand-Knit exclusive tag, “Sand-Knit 44” size tag, and “78” year swatch. The jersey exhibits light wear which is indicative of Malone’s limited playing time during the early part of his pro career. Comes with letter of provenance from the Pittsburgh Steelers.</p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Jersey comes directly from the Steelers archive and come with an LOA from the Steelers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Steelers Archives items will be donated to the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research.</span></p>
