1978 Seattle Slew Woodward Stakes Race Worn Horse Shoe (Trainer LOA)

1978 Seattle Slew Woodward Stakes Race Worn Horse Shoe (Trainer LOA)

Seattle Slew slayed the competition in 1977, becoming the 10th of 11 thoroughbreds to capture the Triple Crown. This race shoe was worn by the great Slew during his track record performance in the 1978 Woodward Stakes to beat a formidable horse in its own right, Exceller (the only horse to ever defeat two U.S. Triple Crown winners in the same race and perhaps most remembered for the tragic manner of his death and the horse rescue movement it helped inspire). Regal shoe comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by his first trainer, Doug Peterson, and is mounted on wood plaque with engraved plate. Slew shattered the Belmont track record in the 1 1/4 mile race. Also, comes with program from the race. We previously sold at auction another shoe from this same set which brought over $10,000.
