1979-80 New York Islanders Stanley Cup Trophy
When the New York Islanders began their dynastic run through the NHL, miniature Stanley Cup trophies such as these were given to the players and team dignitaries. The wording on the trophy reads: "NEW YORK ISLANDERS 1979-80" and lists eight executives ranging from president and general manager William A. Torrey to the coaches and scouts. Also acknowledged are the 23 players, including captain Denis Potvin, and both trainers, Ron Waske and Jim Pickard. There are no dents or scratches, just some minor tarnishing, so we grade it EX-MT. The Islanders won the first of their four consecutive NHL championships in the spring of 1980, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers in six games on the strength of Bobby Nystrom's Cup-clinching overtime tally.
