1979 Steve Carlton Complete Game Worn Uniform (Probable Photo-Match)
Hall of Fame pitcher Steve Carlton collected four Cy Young Awards with the Philadelphia Phillies and was the ace of the 1980 team that became the city‚s first World Series champion. "Lefty" went 18-12 in 1979, and during that season wore this complete ensemble during game action that consists of a home white pinstriped jersey and pants, cap, belt, cleats, socks and stirrups. The jersey features his number 22 sewn in maroon on the right chest and on the back under his name, as well as Wilson Size 46 and "79 2" tags in the front tail and "Carlton" chain-stitched tag in the neck. There is light, if any, use on the cleats. A complete and spectacular uniform that once belonged to one of the greatest left-handed pitchers the game has ever seen, and from his prime, no less.Probable photo-match to a Getty image dated February 28, 1979. Comes with letter of opinion from Resolution Photomatching. While the specific date cannot be guaranteed, we can guarantee that Carlton wore the jersey in 1979.Addendum: Please see new description regarding the photo-matches.
