1980's Grant Fuhr Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Nike Jersey
This road blue heavy mesh gamer by Nike was worn by Hall of Fame goaltender Grant Fuhr at some point during the Oilers Stanley Cup winning seasons of 1983-84 or 1984-85. Fuhr is a member of hockey’s elusive 400-win club. Grant was the main man in goal for the dynasty that was the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980’s. His stellar netminding helped the Oilers to 5 Stanley Cups in a 7-year period. In addition to his 5 Stanley Cups, he has a pair of 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star selections, a Jennings Trophy for fewest goals allowed and the coveted Vezina trophy for most valuable goalie in the NHL. Grant was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003. The arms of this Nike made gamer have been customized to Fuhr’s specifications with shortened sleeves and elastic added to the cuffs. The game wear on this jersey is light as is common with goalie shirts, but it does display about ten small stick marks on the sleeves and body. Well washed with the white Nike neck tag, size L. This jersey was recently sold as being from 1986-87 and comes with Meigray paperwork noting this. However, research shows it to be from earlier, either 1983-84 or 1984-85. It has been examined by Barry Meisel who has confirmed that, although it came with the Wexler 1986-87 Edmonton Oilers set, it appears to be from an earlier year. The Meigray group has made an addendum to their documentation to reflect this.
