1980-82 Tony Perez Signed Player's Contract
This hefty lot consists of Tony Perez's 1980-82 player contract for the Boston Red Sox and all sorts of related documents and correspondence. The contract itself is signed twice by Perez, both rare "Atanacio Perez" signatures in flawless black ink. It is also signed twice by Red Sox executive Haywood Sullivan and once by AL President Lee MacPhail. In some ways, the other docs are even rarer, including one releasing Perez from the Sox in '82, a copy of a '79 contract addendum signed by MacPhail, TLS dated 6/27/80 from Perez' lawyer to the team mentioning that he is leading the league in RBI, TLS dated 9/13/82 letter detailing which teams the slugger would accept an assignment to (interestingly, the Reds are not listed). A tremendous look inside baseball labor relations during the career of a future Hall of Famer.
