1980s Mario Lemieux Game Used Team-Signed Helmet
The first of its kind that we've offered, this is a very rare yellow helmet worn by the Pittsburgh Penguins during the mid-to-late 1980s, and this particular lid protected the greatest of them all, Mario Lemieux. Cooper helmet has the stickers removed from the front and both sides; images from the mid-1980s show Mario wearing a Cooper helmet with the stickers, but images from the later 1980s clearly show him wearing one with stickers removed. It shows extensive use as the padding inside is loose, the rubber ear flaps and chin strap are missing as is the small piece that goes above the forehead area, and the "66" stickers on back are losing a bit of their stick. Signed by over 20 0f the 1988-89 Penguins, many of whom would go on to win the Stanley Cup just two years later including Lemieux, Coffey, Stevens and more. Overall, black Sharpie signatures rate a crisp 7/10.
