1981 Canada Cup Leon Stickle Game Worn Linesman's Jersey
Linesman's jersey worn by Leon Stickle when he officiated in the 1981 Canada Cup Tournament. The final that year saw the USSR hand the Canadian team the worst hockey defeat ever. The 1981 Cup was also the only time that Wayne Gretzky played for Canada and did not win the title. The Canada Cup is now known as the World Cup of Hockey, where professionals around the world compete for their respective countries. The black and white jersey has the Bruce Hood tag inside the back neck, and a 6 inch black nylon zipper down the front. On the left breast is the 1981 Canada Cup embroidered logo patch. Across the back of the jersey is “STICKLE” in white tackle twill on a black name plate. The jersey shows good game use with light brown stains on white portions of the lower sleeves, and the lower front and back of the jersey.
