1981 Signed Major League Baseball All-Star Game Program
In a baseball year defined by labor strife and a strike that ran from June 12 to July 31, the 1981 All-Star game in Cleveland was defined by clutch-hitting and a game-winning homerun by Phillies third baseman Mike Schmidt. This official program from the game, which was originally scheduled for July 14 but was played Aug. 9 because of the mid-season strike, includes the signatures of All-Stars from both leagues on the cover including the two starting catchers in the game, Gary Carter and Carlton Fisk. The program is in EX-MT condition. The signatures are in pen and NRMT condition. Each player signed at the game. The program’s cover is in good shape with slight fading of the white background, particularly around the edges. The signatures are clearly legible. A few are slightly smudged. The program includes a centerpiece section featuring mini trading cards of each player as well as vital stats on the back of each.
