1983-84 Mike Bossy Stanley Cup Game Worn Jersey
A very important jersey worn by The Boss during the 1984 Stanley Cup Finals. Arguably the greatest scorer in the history of the NHL, just one year removed from his game-winning goal over the Edmonton Oilers to clinch the 1983 Stanley Cup for the Islanders, Mike Bossy suited up in this 1983-84 New York Islanders sweater, facing Edmonton again in the Finals. However he could not repeat that spectacular feat for the third time in his career, falling to Wayne Gretzky’s Edmonton Oilers. Game-winning goals seemed to be Mike Bossy’s specialty. In ’83 Bossy also set a still standing NHL record when he scored 4 game-winning goals in one series against the Boston Bruins - a record that will most likely never be matched. White mesh New York Islanders home jersey with large circular NY Islanders patch on the front and “Bossy 22” on verso. His number is also sewn on to both sleeves. “CCM” embroidered onto the back tail. “CCM” care tag in the collar is slightly faded from washing and his handwritten “22” is also faded. Strong use. Comes with photo documentation, which shows Bossy wearing the jersey during the Finals. After being forced into early retirement from the sport of hockey, Mike Bossy tallied 9 straight 50-goal seasons, a standing record, out of 10 total seasons in the NHL and retired as the all time favorite New York Islander. Comes with an LOA.
