1983 Churchill Downs Winner's Trophy & Photo - Co-Owned by President Jimmy Carter

1983 Churchill Downs Winner's Trophy & Photo - Co-Owned by President Jimmy Carter

Just two years after leaving the Oval Office, former President Jimmy Carter transitioned from the proverbial horse race in Washington to actual race horse owner. In partnership with close friend and horse breeder Tom Gentry, they owned Flag Admiral, a son of champion Hoist the Flag and the stakes winner of the 1983 Filson Stakes at Churchill Downs – home of the Kentucky Derby. This silver-plated owner’s trophy and photo comes from the estate of Tom Gentry from Lexington, Kentucky. The trophy measures 9x8” in diameter at its widest point. The owner’s composite photo with frame measures 16x20”.
