1984 Detroit Tigers World Series Trophy Presented to Gates Brown (12")
Rare miniature 12” version of this highly coveted baseball prize by Balfour. This is only the second Detroit Tigers World Series trophy that we know to exist from 1984. After leading the Cincinnati Reds to 2 World Championships, Sparky Anderson became the first manager to lead 2 franchises to glory, bringing home the title to Detroit. “The Beast From the East” was just too overwhelming for the San Diego Padres, who posted a pitiful 13.95 ERA against the tiger lineup. World Series Trophy with 26 pennants surrounding the crown and baseball motif displays the name of Detroit Tigers OF & DH, Gates Brown, along with “World Champions Detroit Tigers, 1984” on the gold band around the black podium. Tigers and Padres World Series press pins displayed in front of the crown. Some crazing to the top of the podium and some slight tarnishing. Otherwise EX-MT.
