The 1984 racing season was one of many stellar ones in the career of jockey Laffit Pincay Jr. That year, Pincay Jr. won eight major races including the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, one win away from the Triple Crown. This majestic trophy stands a stately 40" tall and is 13" wide, and is signed by the jockey with photo proof of him signing.It includes a solid wood base and the top features a gold plated cup with four plastic horse heads, along with a plaque engraved "Jockey of the Year, Laffit Pincay Jr., Santa Anita, 3-25-84, Latin Sports Writers." A testament to his status in the sport, the Laffit Pincay Award has been given annually since 2004, honoring a current deserving jockey who has served the industry with, "integrity, dedication, determination, and distinction."
