1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Torch

1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Torch

No symbol in sports is more profound than an Olympic torch. This torch from the 1984 Olympics in L.A. "rekindles" not just the fire that spit from its top but the emotional feelings that attended America's return to the sports summit after boycotting the '80 Games in Moscow -- and the joy of Carl Lewis & Co. dominate the competition. Torch measures 23" long, about 1" at its base, and 5" in diameter around the removable canopy inside of which the torch arises. Shaft is comprised of alternating solid gold and light brown leather sections, the gold ones engraved with the Olympic symbol, "Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad, Los Angeles 1984" and on the top an image of the L.A. Coliseum. Canopy is engraved "Citius" and "Altius" with the Olympic rings between. Burn marks on the top section rendering a dark brown veneer. Overall, EX. Comes with a plush black leather zipper case with a logo of an athlete carrying the torch.
