1986-87 Don Maloney Game Worn New York Rangers Jersey
The bulk of Maloney’s gritty 13-year NHL career was a 10-1/2 year stint with the Broadway Blueshirts, from 1978 to 1989. In his rookie season of ‘78-79, he helped take them to the Stanley Cup Finals. He also had 20-plus goals in his first 5 seasons and was a 2-time All-Star, and MVP of the ‘84 All-Star Game. For Rangers buffs, this eye-popping 1986-87 shirt that covered Maloney’s back is as much of a keeper as was Maloney during those heady years, and especially so, given that that season the team discontinued its now-prized motif with “New York” spelled out in diagonal letters across the front. The letters appear in orange on white tackle twill on the blue mesh shirt with “12” on the back and both sleeves and “Maloney” across the upper back. Orange and white trimming. Gerry Cosby tagging on neck back with size-52 and laundering labels. Good game use with a team repair, stick and board burns, tears, inside pilling and paint. A real humdinger from the days of The Cat behind the bench and the GAG Line on the ice..
