1989 Jack Nicklaus U.S. Open Caddy’s Vest Signed by Nicklaus
Jack Nicklaus was a silver bear when he played in the 1989 U.S. Open, from which this, the actual green vest, was worn by the Golden Bear’s caddy for the entire Open. A pivotal year for the holder of most majors ever won (18), as he would become eligible early in the next year, as a 50-year-old, to play in the Champions Tour; a sort of a swan song season for this champ’s youthful endeavors, as this vest can certainly be seen as a symbol of. The caddy kept this vest and had Nicklaus sign it across the front in 9/10 black marker. The signature, as is its meaning, is huge - “Jack Nicklaus 89 Open.” Vest is all original with “Nicklaus” stitched in yellow on a plate that is affixed to the vest with velcro. Gold-framed to 20 ¼ x 27 ¼”.
