1992 Lou Whitaker Detroit Tigers Game Worn Jersey
Detroit Tigers home jersey worn by second baseman Lou Whitaker in 1992. The white knit jersey features the Detroit logo on the left breast and the number "1" on the reverse. "Whitaker" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in navy tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a Russell Athletic Size 44 wash tag and a strip tag bearing the numerals 92-1-2-16, with the first three numbers denoting, respectively, the year, uniform number, and set number. The jersey is all original and displays moderate wear. A former American League Rookie of the Year in 1978, Whitaker batted .278 with 19 home runs and 71 RBI in 1992. Those numbers were common for Whitaker throughout his 19-year career, and he retired in 1995 with 244 home runs, 1,084 RBI, and a .276 lifetime average.
