1992 Phil Bourque Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Championship Ring
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Offered in the following lots are five Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Championship rings, all coming from the personal collection of fan-favorite player/announcer Phil Bourque. The first two are from his playing days with the remaining three coming from his career in the broadcast booth. With five Stanly Cup titles spanning from 1990-91 to 2016-17, the Pens are one of the most successful organizations in the NHL's modern era. Only seven franchise employees have received rings from all five Cup runs and only three won as players - with the other two being Mario Lemieux and Bob Errey - and though they are offered here separately, this is also very likely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to earn a complete set of five player-caliber Pittsburgh Penguins championship rings. All are in NM or better condition, each comes with LOA.</span></p><p>1991-92 Stanley Cup Championship ring has two large genuine diamonds on a black set stone, surrounded by 16 smaller diamonds around the inner bezel. Outer bezel reads "Stanley Cup Champions 1992" with left shank bearing Bourque's name above a relief of the skating penguin logo, with number 29 at the bottom. Right shank reads "PITTSBURGH" on top and "Penguins" on bottom; engraved on the flags in between, which referenced the Patrick Division and Wales Conference in the prior year's version, this one is filled with the words "Back to Back." Ring is size 11 and weighs 41 grams. The engravings inside the band consist of "LGB 10K" and a summary of each playoff series: "Pitt/Wash 4-3 Pitt/NYR 4-2 Pitt/Bos 4-0 Pitt/Chi 4-0." On the heels of their first Cup in franchise history, the '91-92 Pittsburgh squad was hardly a dominant force, finishing 3rd in the Patrick Division due in large part to Mario Lemieux again missing games due to his continuing back ailment. Still, the Lemieux-Jaromir Jagr-Ron Francis-powered Penguins hit their stride in the playoffs, bringing the second Cup in as many seasons to the Steel City. It was also the last ring Bourque would earn as a player, though his collection was far from finished.</p>
