1996 Eddie Murray's Bronzed 3,000th Hit Bat (34.5")
The story, as we understand it, is this: after the Hall of Fame shoe-in smacked number 3,000, the Cleveland Indians ballclub collected the bat and sent it out to be bronzed. They had hoped to present it to Murray as a token of their esteem, but before the bat was returned from wherever they had sent it for the procedure, Murray left the club and returned to Baltimore. Time passed, and the Indians finally got the bronzed bat back and made an attempt to present it to Murray. For whatever reason (bad blood?), Murray declined the gift, saying he didn't want it. So this signature model Louisville Slugger M275, used in Murray's ascension to that plateau of legends, remains homeless. Will you adopt it? LOA from the Cleveland Indians.
