1996 Jeremy Roenick World Cup of Hockey Game Worn Jersey
Conceived as a successor to the Canada Cup, the World Cup of Hockey was first held in 1996 and saw the U.S. win a thrilling final over Canada in a best-of-three series. The Americans and Canadians were deadlocked heading into Game 3, and Team USA's prospects seemed grim in the third period of the rubber match as they fell behind 2-1. The Americans finished with a flourish, however, and scored four goals in the final three minutes of play to come out on top. This jersey, game worn during the tournament by American great Jeremy Roenick, is all original and shows light use in the form of scattered stick marks and some fraying to the applications. A "USA" crest appears on the front and "ROENICK" is sewn on a name plate on the back, with the number "27" on both sleeves and back. There is a Nike size 56 tag in the collar, a Nike bar code inside the rail, and 1996 World Cup of Hockey patches emblazoned on both shoulders.
