1999-2000 Mark Messier Vancouver Canucks Autographed Game Worn Jersey
One of the all-time greats to play in the NHL, Mark Messier was the perfect two-way player. A superstar of the modern era, Messier combined with the Great Gretzky to lead the Edmonton Oilers to six Stanley Cups. In the team's first championship, Messier was named winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the playoffs. In 1990, he received the first of his two Hart Trophies as league MVP. In 1991, Messier joined the New York Rangers. In 1994, Messier captained the Rangers to the Stanley Cup, becoming the first player to captain two different teams to the NHL's title. Messier spent from 1997 to 2000 in Vancouver before returning to the Rangers for the 2000-2001 season. Mark is one of only ten players with 600 plus goals in a NHL career, and is second only to the great Wayne Gretzky in NHL career points scored. Messier wore this Vancouver jersey in the last eight games of the 1999-2000 regular season, against Phoenix, Buffalo, Anaheim, Ottawa, New Jersey, Anaheim, Toronto and Los Angeles. On the inside back collar of the sweater is the CCM manufacturers and size "56" tags. On the inside bottom left is an additional tag with "1999 2000 GAME WORN Limited Edition" Vancouver Canucks tag. On the front is the Canucks logo patch in navy, red, white, silver and blue tackle twill. On the left breast is the Captain's "C." On the right breast is the NHL 2000 black and silver embroidered patch. On each sleeve and on the back is the player number "19." The "C" and the numbers are in blue on silver and red tackle twill. Across the back is "MESSIER" in blue tackle twill on a white name plate. The sweater is autographed in black marker rating a 7 to 8 on the front directly below the captain's "C." The teams which this sweater was worn against are written in black marker on the inside fight strap. Shows game use with some stick marks and soiling. Obtained from an employee of the Canucks.
