19th Century Equipment Estate Collection
Magnificent example of baseball equipment from the late 19th Century includes then-state of the art baseball items. From an estate collection, the items were not used by a big league team but perhaps by a local semipro or industrial league unit. Indeed, baseball history detectives will be intrigued by the "MO" or "OM" logo stitched across the shirt's left chest in blue felt. Same logo is also stitched into the pocket of the chocolate brown Rawlings mitt. Also a label sewn into the collar beside the "Wright & Ditson, Boston" label with a handwritten name on it that may be "Leo Trindel." Shirt and pants are EX+ w/ scattered soiling. Pancake-style mitt EX+ w/buttery leather. Birdcage mask is VG w/tougher leather on the interior padding, pleasant even tarnishing of the bars, and a somewhat tattered strap. Reach Deluxe Model A12 bat is a stunner, its dark licorice brown color is lighter only around the handle where tape was removed, and its barrel lined w/ball and cleat marks that makes it clear this team meant business on the field. And for nothing more in return than a beer or two after the last out, bless 'em.
