19th Century Horse Racing Programs from Morris & Monmouth Parks (7)

These incredibly well-preserved racing programs date from the late 1800s, originating from a pair of historic tracks. Seven programs are included: MORRIS PARK (no writing): 1) May 13, 1895, former Belmont Stakes winner fell in steeplechase race. 2) October 16, 1895. 3) October 23, 1895, Belmar was a winner and won Belmont Stakes 10 days later in November at same race track (the only year the event was run later than June 23). 4) October 30, 1895.MONMOUTH PARK (no writing except extremely minor notations to indicate winners on 1882 program): 5) July 5, 1879. 6) August 5, 1882. 7) August 21, 1886 – three stakes races including Monmouth Handicap. Monmouth opened in 1870 and still operates today, while Morris in the Bronx was open from 1889 to 1904, and hosted the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness at various times.
