This exceptional piece of New York baseball history has been carefully preserved and passed down through five generations of the same family. It was worn by a player on a small mining town team that originated in 1877 in Lyon Mountain, way up near the Canadian border. The team name is depicted here by the pair of embroidered lions tossing a baseball between them. Just beneath that are the letters "MT" for mountain, and even further down are the larger letters "BBC" for Base Ball Club. The piece is finished with stars in each corner and bound around the edges. Lyon Mountain continues to have baseball in its blood. Despite a tiny population, the town has a major league-sized field where local teams still play competitively.
