2000 Indy 500 Target/Ganassi Racing Championship Ring
This ring has a black and white checkered flag on the front, with a row of semi-precious stones running vertically to the left of the flag. The right side says "Target Chip Ganassi Racing" while the left says "Winner, 2000, 500." The inside of the ring is stamped with "10K". The ring is made from 18.5 grams of yellow gold, and the red, black, and white enamel accents are displayed on the ring. In 2000 the Ganassi team competed in the prestigious Indianapolis 500 race, part of the rival Indy Racing League series using a G-Force (Panoz) chassis and a Comptech-tuned Oldsmobile Aurora engine. Media and drivers were critical of Juan Pablo Montoya's recklessness and predicted an early retirement from the race. Montoya shrugged any advice given to him, claiming that all four corners were exactly the same and that the track required less attention than the road courses in the CART series and in European racing. That year, Montoya won. Ring comes with photo of Montoya wearing the same type of ring. Size 8.5.
