2004 David Ortiz Game Used Bat (34") and Batting Gloves

2004 David Ortiz Game Used Bat (34") and Batting Gloves

How's this for a rarity -- a bat swung by "Big Popi" that didn't made dead solid perfect contact with the ball. Seems every other time Ortiz took his massive cut, a pitcher wound up hanging his head or an entire team, notably the one from the Bronx, left the field with the sting of defeat. Was it coincidence that the Sox reversed the curse in a year when overfed DH had his best year ever, hitting .301 w/41 dingers and 139 RBIs? Yeah, right. Signature model Lousville Slugger C243 has the marks from some of those solid shots, too, hard enough to take the black paint off several areas of the barrel. The impressive crack has shaved off a good 8" between the tightly taped handle and barrel, with a residual line stretching to the trademark. Knob has "34" written in black marker. TPX and MLB engraved stampings on end of barrel. Also Ortiz' well-worn batting gloves, red, blue and gray with Velcro wrist straps. Attached black label reads "D. Ortiz #34". Feel the power.
