2006 Barbaro Preakness Stakes Race Worn Horse Shoe (LOA)

2006 Barbaro Preakness Stakes Race Worn Horse Shoe (LOA)

A rare and historic thoroughbred artifact, offered here is Barbaro's race worn horse shoe from the 2006 Preakness Stakes.Framed in a wood shadowbox measuring 12.5x14.5", it displays beautifully with "Barbaro" nameplate, and black suede interior, with dirt still lodged throughout the entire shoe. After easily winning the Kentucky Derby, Barbaro entered the Preakness as a heavy favorite, but early in that race he suffered a catastrophic fracture to his right hind leg. Despite surgery that succeeded in extending his life, complications arose that led to the champion being euthanized eight months later. This poignant keepsake comes with LOA detailing its provenance from Barbaro's groom, Eduardo Hernandez.
