2010 Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez Signed Game Used Bat

2010 Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez Signed Game Used Bat

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez is a Hall of Fame catcher who was outstanding both at bat and behind the plate. Offered is a 2010 Pudge Rodriguez game used bat. Rodriguez played 21 years in the Major Leagues, for seven different teams - mostly for the Texas Rangers (13 years) and the Detroit Tigers (5 seasons). Ivan got his "Pudge" nickname from his first day in camp for Texas, when Chino Cadahia, then a coach with the Rangers, noticed that Rodriguez's build, at 5'9" and 200 lbs., was short and pudgy, so he gave Rodriguez the nickname "Pudge," and it stuck. In his career, Rodriguez was the American League MVP in 1999 when he hit .332, with 35 homers and 113 RBIs. Rodriguez is a 14-time All-Star, a 13-time Gold Glove Award recipient, and a 7-time Silver Slugger winner. He hit .296 lifetime, with 311 home runs. He was a key part of the 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins. Rodriguez has also caught more games than any Major Leaguer in history, with 2,427 appearances behind the plate. The offered black enameled bat is a 34" Louisville Slugger R249 Ivan Rodriguez model bat with his #7 written on the knob and on the cupped end. The knob also has the date "3/1/2010" and the bat's dimensions 34"/32.5 oz. etched into the wood. A recent weighing of the bat shows an actual weight of 31.25 ounces. Rodriguez signed the bat in silver marker and added the inscription "Game Used." The signature rates 7/8 out of 10. The barrel of the bat has an etched Pudge Rodriguez facsimile signature and an etched "Washington Nationals," as Rodriguez played the final two years of his career with Washington. The bat shows minimal wear, with some light rack marks. The offering comes from the Ivan Rodriguez Collection, and it includes a Letter of Provenance from Rodriguez.
