Alexander Cartwright Onion Skin Pressed Letter

Alexander Cartwright was credited in 1953 by the U.S. Congress with inventing the game of baseball. He was a book seller and a volunteer fireman in Manhattan in the mid 1800's. He also founded The New York Knickerbockers baseball team in 1842. They played a type of stick ball called "The Town Game". This onion skin pressed letter was written by Cartwright in 1862 and contains his "pressed" not original signature.
