Amazing Photo Signed by the Four Greatest Yankee Catchers (PSA Type I w/ Authentic Sigs)

Amazing Photo Signed by the Four Greatest Yankee Catchers (PSA Type I w/ Authentic Sigs)

"A good catcher is the quarterback, the carburetor, the lead dog, the pulse taker, the traffic cop, and sometimes a lot of unprintable things, but no team gets very far without one," said former New York Yankee Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins. Presented is a great and very unusual 1977 color photo, one that Miller Huggins would have loved. It's an appealing, amazing photo that shows the four greatest catchers in New York Yankees history posing together, with each of the catchers signing his part of the photo. Left to right on the photo: 1) Bill Dickey - Hall of Fame catcher who played each of his 17 Major league seasons with the Yankees. He hit .313 lifetime, was an 11-time All-Star and was a leading part of eight World Series champs. 2) Yogi Berra - Hall of Fame catcher who played 18 years with the Yankees. In his first season, he played on the Bronx Bombers with Dickey, who was in his final season, and Dickey spent countless hours working with Berra to master various catching skills, and as the inimitable Yogi explained, "Learn me his experience." Berra hit .285 lifetime, with 358 homers, and as a player on 10 World Series Champions, he played on more World Championship baseball teams than anyone else in history. 3) Elston Howard - When Howard joined the Yankees in 1955, he became the first African American to ever play for the Yankees. Elston spent 13 of his 15 Major League seasons with the Yanks, and he was a 12-time All-Star, a member of four World Championship Yankees teams and won the 1963 AL MVP. 4) Thurman Munson played 11 seasons for the Yankees. He was a 7-time All-Star, the 1970 AL MVP, and hit .292 lifetime with 113 home runs. He tragically died when he plane he was piloting crashed in 1970. The great grouping, with four terrific receivers in a relaxed, warm demeanor, is an eye-catching, conversation starter that will make a prominent contribution to any collection. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the photo, certifying each of the signatures as "Authentic" and the photo as Type I Authentic.
