Andy Aitkenhead's 1926-27 Saskatoon Sheiks Wool Cardigan Sweater
Taken from the deepest well of hockey antiquity, this brilliant red heavy wool cardigan sweater is an incredible and hardy survivor of one of the game's earliest organized leagues, the Prairie hockey League (PrHL), which descended from the Western Canada Hockey League (1921-25) and Western Hockey League (1926) to play 2 seasons, from 1926 through 1928. The sweater was presented to Andy Aitkenhead as a member of the circuit's Saskatoon Sheiks, a formidable force just a season earlier with Bill & Bun Cook, Newsy Lalonde and George Hainsworth in the lineup. All-original and in fantastic condition. The stitched felt crescent moon logo adorns the front and Andy’s full name is stitched into the collar. We will provide a copy of a photo showing Andy and the boys wearing these team sweaters. The threads of this marvelous sweater are like pages of hockey history, and as such a hockey collector's priority.
