Art Nouveau Brass Horse Racing Inkwell & Letter Stand

Art Nouveau Brass Horse Racing Inkwell & Letter Stand

Unusual and engaging, this circa 1890s all-brass art nouveau design depicts an attractive women in a male-dominated role, wearing equestrian gear while tenderly minding her horse. The young woman's look is of a "Gibson Girl" by illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, and the detail is stunning. It measures 9" high and the brass plate is 5.5" in circumference, and it's missing part of one bracket. The jockey cap flips open to reveal the well-used inkwell with the hinge functioning beautifully, making it still very practical for use today.
