Here's a stunning image of two Belmont-owned horses, Potomac and Masher, who finished first and second respectively in the Futurity Stakes in 1890, as Hall of Fame jockey Anthony Hamilton and Martin Bergen are "up." This hand-colored lithograph is by Charles Zellinsky, their #1 artist. Currier & Ives was a top printmaking firm of the era based in New York City. They popularized American life for the masses, from President Lincoln to Our National Game (sells for $100,000 plus).
