Autograph Album with Sports Stars, Musicians, Actors, Etc
Leather bound autograph album with 45 single signed pages of the arts, movie, stage, music and sports stars (second half of the book is still blank). Each page displays a single autograph and includes Joe Louis, Mel Ott, Leo Durocher, Hubert Humphrey signed as “Mayor of Minneapolis” (he would go on to become U.S. Vice President), Marian Anderson - the first black opera star, Joe E. Brown, Hank Greenberg, Hap Chandler, Bob Davies, Mae West, Bob Crosby (brother of Bing), & more. Signatures grade overall 9-10 out of a possible 10. Book is 6.25x2.5” when closed with multi-colored pages. Leather cover is Excellent, inner contents are EX-MT or better with no creases, folds or tears. Most autographs are in ink, some in pencil. Autographs were obtained primarily by the doormen at the Curtis Hotel in Minneapolis, MN, and frequently passed from doorman to porter or to others working at the hotel. The Curtis Hotel was the place to be in the 1940’s-50’s, and was generally recognized as the “home of the stars of the Metropolitan Opera” when performing in Minnesota (the hotel has since been demolished).
