Awesome Baseball Hall of Fame Signed 3 x 5 and Government Postcard Collection.
One of the highest quality collections of signed 3 x 5's and Government postcards that we have handled. Presented is an amazing ensemble of Baseball Hall of Fame autographs, assembled by a passionate, discriminating collector over a period of many years. The goal of the collection was to obtain a choice 3 x 5 or Government postcard (GPC) signed by each member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and then matte the piece with a Perez Steele card. As a result, numerous signatures in the group have been professionally matted, while others that did not make it to the framer are simply stored in acid free sleeves and boxes. Highlights of this incredible collection include: Signed 3x5's or GPC's (127 total; all signed in ink (all but a few in ballpoint or fountain pen) on the unlined side of the card and perfect for matting): Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Tris Speaker, Roberto Clemente, Jackie Robinson (GPC postmarked 1951), Tom Connolly, Rogers Hornsby, Ed Walsh (GPC trimmed to 3 x 5" and postmarked 1951), Fred Clarke, Branch Rickey, Mickey Cochrane, Dazzy Vance, Nestor Chylak, Connie Mack, Larry MacPhail, Sam Crawford, Satchel Paige, Hank Greenberg, Dizzy Dean, Nelson Fox, Tom Yawkey, Bill Veeck, George Weiss, Casey Stengel, William Harridge, Joe McCarthy, Heinie Manush, Sam Rice, Red Faber, Chick Hafey, Bucky Harris, Elmer Flick, Ford Frick, Frankie Frisch, Joe Medwick, Cal Hubbard, Jesse Haines, Harry Hooper, Dave Bancroft, Earle Combs, most of the living inductees (many tough to come by on a 3x5: Bench, Brett, R. Jackson, Koufax, McCovey, Murray, Perez, Puckett, F. Robinson, Ryan, Seaver, Schmidt, Yaz, etc.), and so many more. Signed 3x5's matted with a Perez Steele postcard (32): Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Zack Wheat, Ray Schalk, George Sisler, and numerous others. And (unsigned) Perez Steele postcards (122) of: Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, and most of those mentioned above. To say that the signatures in this collection are "Mint" or "10 out of 10" would be an understatement. Each signature of a deceased Hall of Famer was painstakingly selected over the years to ensure the highest quality, often times meaning that examples with even the slightest of imperfections were upgraded time and time again. The autographs of the living inductees were usually obtained in person at signings throughout the country, and often times the collector would have the athlete sign more than one index card, in order to ensure that only the highest quality specimens would make it in to the collection. While this lot certainly has tremendous potential for break up, it also represents a fantastic opportunity for the most fastidious collector to upgrade an existing collection, or for the aspiring hobbyist to partake in a new endeavor.
