"Babe Ruth Was Not Fat" Waite Hoyt Letter

"Babe Ruth Was Not Fat" Waite Hoyt Letter

Waite Hoyt, a Hall of Fame pitcher who tossed for a number of teams, most notably the Yankees from 1921-30, wrote this typewritten letter addressed to a "Mr. Saglett". The letter contains brutally honest revelations from Hoyt, not the least of which is his assessment of Babe Ruth. Hoyt implores Mr. Saglett, "But do not believe everything you read about Babe..." and goes on to explain that Ruth was "NOT FAT", "was always fun loving -- and a great guy liked by all or most of the players", who "had weaknesses... but they never harmed anyone but himself -- and he was the savior of baseball -- and all the players today owe him a great deal. More than they will ever know". This stirring letter is signed by Hoyt in 8/10 black felt tip.
