Bobby Murcer Signed Professional Model Bat

Bobby Murcer Signed Professional Model Bat

Bobby Murcer played 17 Major League seasons, for the Yankees (13 seasons), Chicago Cubs (3 seasons) and San Francisco Giants (2 seasons)., with Murcer splitting the 1979 campaign with the Cubs and Yankees. Offered is a Professional signature model bat that was signed by Murcer, but never used. Bobby came from Oklahoma, as did the Yankees' Mickey Mantle, and Murcer, like Mantle, was a highly promising shortstop converted into an outfielder. Thus, the expectations were high for Murcer, seen by some as the second coming of Mantle. Murcer, of course, never reached Mantle's heights, but he had a good career, working against the pressure to be a big home run hitter, as another Mantle. Bobby did hit a lifetime 252 home runs and drove in 1,043. The 5-time All-Star batted a career .277. Later, he became a New York Yankee broadcaster. He passed away in 2008. The displayed bat is a 2SL Bobby Murcer Louisville Slugger. The presented bat is 34" in length and weighs 30.9 ounces. Etched into the barrel is "Bobby Murcer" as a facsimile signature. His actual signature is also on the barrel, signature in 9+/10 blue Sharpie. Murcer also used the blue Sharpie to inscribe "N.Y. Yankees" on the barrel. The labeling is from the early 1980s. The unused bat is in excellent condition.
