Bobby Orr's Last Juniors Championship Game Program (with Beatles Concert Ad)
Amazing, and amazingly rare, 1966 Ontario Hockey League championship game program from Maple Leaf Gardens is a keeper for more than the obvious -- that it marks Bobby Orr's final game in the junior leagues. The added value is that smack dab on the center page of the program is an ad touting two August 17th concerts at the arena by the Beatles! The ad reads: "Chum and After Four Present The Beatles...Tickets On sale Soon." As if the place wasn't rockin' enough with the wunderkind Orr's farewell performance with the Oshawa Generals. In fact, it was the end of his 4-year world tour with the team, which began when he was just 14 and would end right after the Gens put away the Edmonton Oil kings, when the Bruins (who had to wait ‘til he was 18) signed him. Program lists the teams (one of Orr's teammates was his future Bruin mate Wayne Cashman) and has a b&w insert photo of General Barry Wilkins (different photos were inserted into the programs). 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" and EX. A great get, for a new genre -- rock hockey.
