Boston Braves Field Seat with Figural Side
An extremely rare vintage seat from Braves Field, home of National League baseball in Boston from 1915 to 1953. This outstanding seat is further distinguished by an outstanding figural design, executed in cast iron on the aisle side. A 5 1/4" baseball features "B / NL / C" in embossed letters, above an embossed motif including two bats and a baseball glove - just amazing! All wood and iron parts are original and unrestored, with the exception of the figural itself. The figural side was extremely rusted, and was removed and sanded down to bare metal, then repainted. There are very few Braves Field seats around, and this is the only one we know of with a figural side attached. The original green paint has faded and worn over the years, showing nice wood grain on the arm rests and wooden slats, and with chips and light rust on the iron parts. A very faded seat number "6" is visible on the upper slat. An outstanding item from a historic ballpark.
