Briggs Stadium Seat with Figural Side
Nature has taken its toll, yet this terrific stadium seat from Detroit's venerable Briggs Stadium remains standing. It has all-original wood and metal with green paint that has chipping and peeling, and the highlight is that one side has a beautiful figural tiger with baseball bat, indicating that this seat was on the end of an aisle. The number "13" is stenciled in white on the seatback of this artifact from Michigan's sporting past, which displays typical stadium wear with some rust on the metal. Originally opened in 1912 as Navin Field (1912-37), and renamed Tiger Stadium in 1960, the old park officially closed in 1999 and sat dormant for nearly a decade before facing demolition.
