"Brink of Success" Letter from Mike Appel To Bruce Springsteen

"Brink of Success" Letter from Mike Appel To Bruce Springsteen

Fascinating and historically important letter written by The Colonel (Appel) to his Elvis (Bruce). The then manager writes to his artist on Laurel Canyon stationery that the band is in dire financial straits. Dramatic content includes Clarence Clemons being "tarred and feathered" by the IRS, and "we must sell more records or we will never reach the charts." But goes on to, "In my opinion we are on the brink of great success." The following year Springsteen released "Born to Run" and became a superstar. Two-page TLS is signed "Mike," original envelope addressed "Bruce Springsteen" by Appel. Sig is Mint, o/w EX+.
