Bruce Springsteen Signed The Castiles Acetate Recording
The first record ever produced of Bruce Springsteen. The Castiles entered a small New Jersey recording studio Mr. Music on May 18, 1966. Unbeknownst to them, they would be making musical history. They recorded two original songs, Baby I and That's What You Get. These songs were co-written by Bruce and his bandmate George Theiss. These were among his first attempts at songwriting. Seven acetated test pressings of these 45's were distributed to the six band members and manager Tex Vinyard. No other copies were pressed and NONE were ever publicly released. Bruce contributed both vocals and lead guitar on both of the songs. Of the seven original records pressed, only four are known to exist today. This specimen was personally autographed by Bruce Springsteen This specimen was personally autographed by Bruce Springsteen during a visit to Billy's post-Museum memorabilia shop in Red Bank, N.J. He signed it in mint blue marker, "To Billy, Here's the First! Bruce Springsteen." The piece was later loaned to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
