Cigar Retirement Halter

Cigar Retirement Halter

Undisputed horse of the decade, Cigar conquered the thoroughbred racing world by reeling off 16 consecutive victories spanning from 1994-1996 and in the process defeated racing’s absolute elite thoroughbreds from Southern California to the deserts of the United Arab Emirates. Upon his retirement in 1996, his earnings were just shy of $10,000,000, making him the richest American thoroughbred of all-time. He was the most anticipated stallion prospect in years but it was soon determined that “America’s Horse” was infertile and his owners cashed in an insurance policy of $25,000,000 – a record. Cigar soon called the world famous Kentucky Horse Park home where he welcomed visitors from around the globe up until his passing in 2014. It was during his residence at the KHP that Cigar wore this heavily used leather halter featuring a brass nameplate. COA from the Kentucky Horse Park is included.
