Circa 1939 Hall of Famers Signed Baseball with Five Original Inductees and Johnny Evers (PSA)
Beautiful circa 1939 baseball with several Hall of Famers lending their name to this mantle centerpiece. Official New York Semi-Pro League baseball is NM with 12 signatures total that average 7/10. Of the 12 sigs, nine are Hall of Famers, including five from the original induction ceremonies held in 1939: Cy Young and Walter Johnson (both on the same panel), Connie Mack (sweet spot), Larry Lajoie and Eddie Collins (both on the same panel). The ball also boasts the signatures of Johnny Evers (who is very difficult on a baseball), Rabbit Maranville, Lefty Grove and Dizzy Dean. Cy Young and Walter Johnson are two of the most legendary pitchers in the history of baseball, with the former's legacy alive and well in the form of the year-end award that bears his name, given to the most outstanding pitcher from both leagues. Connie Mack, the gentleman manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, was a terrific ambassador for the sport at a critical time in its development. Lajoie was one of the game's first superstars, while Collins enjoyed a long and fruitful career in baseball as a player, manager, and executive. This is a terrific lineup on a gorgeous ball. Comes certified by PSA.
