Circa 1955 Mickey Mantle Vintage Signed Photograph (PSA)

Presented is a signed and inscribed photo of Mickey Mantle that was taken in the 1955 season. The Hall of Fame center fielder had a wonderful season that year. He batted .306 and led the American League in: runs (113), triples (11), home runs (37), OBP (.431), SLG (.611), and OPS (1.042). His New York Yankees won the American League pennant and lost to the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series. Mantle was just about to reach his peak in 1955. His manager on the Yankees, Casey Stengel, had said, "He [Mantle] should lead the league in everything. With his combination of speed and power he should win the Triple Batting Crown every year." After his 1955 season, Mickey did win the Triple Crown in the next two seasons. In the future would be his marvelous chase, with Roger Maris in 1961, of Babe Ruth's single season homer record of 60. The inscription reads, "To Herb (Score?) My Best Wishes to a Great Guy". The inscription and the Mantle signature are both neatly written with a fountain pen. Parts of the inscription and signature exhibit minor fading. The 7.25" x 9.25" photo exhibits chipping of image corners and chipping and wear to the inscription and to the top right of the photo. The photo is an excellent memento signed and inscribed by a baseball immortal. PSA LOA.
